Krakenspiel 2022 - July 23, 2022

Welcome

Charleston Curling Club welcomes our curling family back for its 4th annual Funnspiel. Krakenspiel is a One-Day Points format bonspiel. With all the delayed and cancelled bonspiels over the last two years, we're excited to see our curling family again. It's like a reunion! Yes! It's the Kraken Family Reunion.    

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to attend the Krakenspiel at no cost. The Carolina Ice Palace has graciously offered to set up the upstairs mezzanine as a warm-room vieweing area. Additional bleacher seating is available inside the rink throughout the event.

Live Scoring

The drawmaster will be updating the game scores and point's standings at the end of each draw. The scores may be viewed here

Rules

Standard World Curling Federation / USA Curling rules apply. 

Additional rules to facilitate the Pointsspiel format are as follows:

• ALL players must sign waivers prior to entering the ice.
• Stone colors will be pre-assigned, you must play the assigned colors.
• Hang the score of the last end as soon as it is decided and LEAVE the score hanging at the end of each game. Only the drawmaster may clear score.
• Teams have 1½ hours to play up to 8 ends in their draw. 
  • Teams may start new ends, up to 8 ends, so long as 15 minutes or more remain on the clock.
• Please leave the ice upon the conclusion of your game as to allow as much ice time prep for the next draw as possible.
• Teams may not concede, and should continue playing until the draw time expires.
• There are no tie-breakers or extra ends for tied draws.
• Points:
  • The winning team is awarded 5 points.
  • All teams are awarded 1 point for each end won
  • All teams are awarded ½ of a point for each stone scored
  • Ties in the final standings will be awarded to the team with the lowest number of cumulative years experience.
