The Olympics are here, and curling has once again captivated the world as one of the most popular events. Are you one of the many who have become obsessed with the roaring game? You are in the right place. The Charleston Curling Club is offering severl Learn To Curl sessions throughout the Olympic Season. Check out the current availability and register here.
Once you join us for a Learn To Curl Session, you are welcome to keep coming back to the club for Pick Up Play any time.
Our Learn To Curl sessions last about 2 hours. Over the course of the class one of our experienced instructors will give you a hands on introduction to the sport. A typical class includes:
- 10 minutes of off-ice warmups, and orientation with the club, ice, and equipment
- 45 minutes of on-ice, hands-on lessons on stone delivery and sweeping.
- 1 hour instructed gameplay teaching basic rules, strategy and culture.
- Broomstacking, traditional socializing after a curling game.
You don't need to know how to skate, curlers play in clean, flat soled shoes. In fact, you don't need any special equipment or experience to play. Just dress for warmth and flexibility.
One of the reasons we love curling is because it is an adaptive sport. We have a delivery stick available for anyone who wants to play without needing to squat and slide out.
